Outland A Partner in First Nations Youth EducationJanuary 2012
In its 12th year of operation the First Nations Natural Resources Youth Employment Program took an innovative step in education showing how First Nations, industry, government and education can work together. With the introduction of Ginoogaming First Nation & Long Lake 58 Education Authority to its diverse partner group Outland was able to offer First Nations high school students from across northern Ontario 29 paid cooperative education credits during the summer of 2011.
Outland is a pioneer in First Nations youth education, starting the very successful First Nation Ranger Youth program in Ignace Ontario in 2000. Since then Outland has trained over 250 First Nation youth from communities across the country. These youth have gone on to careers in forestry, mining, within and outside Outland's Operations.
